If you listen to an I-Pod 99% of the time, this is the unit for u… but beware

My reason for giving this unit 3 stars is the complete lack of station preset buttons (Typically 1-6) on the face plate. Navigating, and setting the presets is irritating. I am a JVC guy and have installed and have had installed no less than 10 units in my and my families cars over the years. If you want easy to use get Sony CDXGT640UI MP3/WMA/AAC Player CD Receiver (Black) [....]

Works the same way pretty much but has station buttons.

I freely admit that I should have looked closed to the picture the unit to see that it lacked buttons, but I made the wrong assumption that it had them hidden somewhere…it does not.

I liked the idea of being able to match the display color to the native color of the interior illumination. All in all it works wonderfully and as advertised. I am using the usb/i-Pod interface and it is great. The on board controls are nice, but it is easier to use the i-Pod itself to search through songs and folders, start the music/podcast then plug it in. Another nice feature regarding the I-Pod is when you turn the car off,the radio saves where you are @ in the song and resumes that place when you turn it back on.

The JVC head unit performs great. It is a lot of performance for the cash. However, the menu system is a little quirky and the lack of “up front” preset buttons takes a bit more planning for station surfing than I was used to. I would still buy this unit after the fact, so, I suppose I am a pretty happy guy.

My daughter bought this for her car and absolutely loves it!! She seen this model in the store but found it much cheaper on Amazon. Works great! She loves the ipod feature. I would suggest this model to anyone looking for a nice stereo with a good price!

Controls are not intuitive, keep the manual within reach. Also, it was rated to fit my car… had to cut off the factory mount at rear of radio. Pretty colors tho.

I chose this stereo because it had the option of changing the display color to match my dashboard color (orange). All the other stereos had a blue display which didn’t work for me. The sound is awesome. I tried the loudness feature but had to turn it off because it blew me away! I love the equalizer choices for the different genres of music. The USB port works well with my iPod — playlists can be operated either through the radio or through the iPod. Great unit for the price.
